So, I figured I’d give Pixop a shot!
In this Pixop review, I really dug deep into all the advanced features and even tested a few of my own low-resolution clips with it to see if it lives up to the hype.

- Simple interface: Pixop’s interface is almost so simple that it’s confusing. Once you know where everything is, it’ll be impossible to forget it. But I’d recommend watching a short tutorial first!

My Experience Using Pixop
Pixop’s interface is a very basic and straightforward web page.
First, I uploaded my original video and it gave me all the metadata for it.
Click on ‘Process’ to make changes to your clip.
The first set of options are the factory presets, which include options like enhanced HD, enhanced UHD 4K, HQ input, handheld enhanced, etc.
It also gave me a video quality analysis of my clip (2.0/5), which it determined based on the noise, details and colors. I’m not 100% sure exactly what this score means, but I think the higher the score, the more effective the filters and presets will be.
I selected ‘Enhanced HD’ preset and then went through the upper tabs to find more filters.
The one-worded filters confused me a bit as there was no description as to what they did. I had to go back to Pixop’s homepage to find a list of the filter descriptions – so I didn’t love that I had to go find that somewhere else. But I’m sure once you get familiar with the platform, that wouldn’t be a problem.
After I waited for the export to process, it showed up here on the main page under ‘Versions.’
Then, I clicked the on each version where it says ‘Compare,’ followed by the ‘Compare’ button on the top right.
Pixop pulled up this comparison screen where it had a bunch of still images from the video. There’s a slider bar in the middle where you can slide it across the screen to see the original video on the left compared to the enhanced video on the right side.
There’s a ‘Video comparison’ button on the top left that plays the video through with the slider bar instead of just the still images.
From here, you can download the video onto your computer or leave it on Pixop to download another day, or send it to someone else on your team.
Final Thoughts: Pixop Review
If you’re looking for a way to improve the quality of your video without spending a lot of money, Pixop is definitely worth considering.
It’s upscaling abilities were pretty on par with other reputable AI upscaling software I tried, but Pixop has the added bonus of being a cloud-based service, so you can get started without installing any software, and the pay-as-you-go model can be pretty cheap if you only have a few short videos to upscale.
But if you think enhancing videos is something you’re needing to do for the long-haul, then I would suggest looking at other AI upscaling programs that have a yearly or one-time fee.

Not only did I feel like Topaz gave more clarity to my sample videos, but I really thought their comparison views made the overall experience better. While in AVCLabs, you could render one second of the clip to see side-by-side before exporting, with Topaz, you could render the entire clip to preview side-by-side first.
Either way, you can't go wrong!

AVCLabs Video Enhancer
AVCLabs Video Enhancer offers a similar video upscaling service to Topaz. It's got fast processing times and high-quality results (almost as good as Topaz, but not quite). It also features a world-leading AI Face Enhancement tool for videos, which makes it great for upscaling old home movies.
While both services offer high-quality results, AVCLabs may be a better choice for those who don't need a long-term AI enhancer or for those on a budget. They offer a full range of pricing options, starting with a monthly plan.
